R21 Untere Valentinalm » Wolayersee Hütte
  |   3h15   |   7.8 km   |   911 m   |   160 m

A somewhat shorter stage awaits you, its destination being the Wolayersee Hut in the lovely setting of the Wolayersee lake. At the Valentintörl pass, the trail to the Hohe Warte, the main peak of the western Carnic Alps, standing at 2,780m already branches off. But other summits, such as the Frauenhügel, whose flanks are dotted with military posts from World War I, likewise guarantee a wonderful view over the Wolayersee lake.

The most beautiful section on the Karnic High Trail so far. Impressive and awesomely beautiful limestone walls. Pretty easy going til Wolayersee (I took the dirt road to Obere Valentinalm) to avoid the usually too steep 403 trail.
Wolayersee Hütte looks brand new and very comfortable.

June 26, 2017 From Kötschach where I had to turn away, I took the Römerweg (path of the Romans), very easy even if it is 1500m to climb to the Wolayersee Hütte. Great location above the lake. I will meet there Egon, a friendly Austrian who travels the path of the Carnic Alps between Italy and Austria, and with whom I will walk for a few days.

Beautiful red carpet (from Wolayer see to Valentinalm). I camped at Oberer Valentinalm, the people who live there don't mind, as long as you ask.

Trieste-Monaco on persistent 07/14/14 Snow before and collar as well as in the descent to Woyalersee. Above the lake historical traces of the Second World War. Beautiful high mountain atmosphere at the pass! I chose to stay in Italy for a real change and drinking coffee! The Lemberteghi refuge (arrow Lake) is 5 minutes of Wolayersee refuge. Speak English and Italian. Nice welcome and good price. For the more experienced, a cave allows the shelter to pass (take direction via ferrata).

Unable to camp between shelters and Lambertenghi Wolayer but continuing after Wolayersee at the bottom of the descent there is a great place to camp.

The Wolayersee Hut is partly closed in 2012 because of reconstructions. Look for the Lambertenghi Hut, 5 minutes away on the Italian side. I prefer the food in Italian huts. Half Pension with dorms and a three dish meal a la carte for 36 euros.

    Guten Tag
    andere Formate in Overlays umwandeln?
