ON HORSEBACK AROUND ARGENTINA VALLEY

PROGRAMME:
1st day: arrival in the evening at Pompeiana’s Horse Centre (FISE Centre), horse accommodation, meeting with the guide and briefing about the programme, accommodation in three-star hotel in Santo Stefano al mare, dinner and overnight stay.

2nd day: breakfast at the hotel, displacement with own means to Pompeiana’s Horse Centre. At 9, departure of guided tour on horseback: on tarmac up to Castellaro, on muletrack up to Taggia, climb to Albareo di Beuzi and Monte Neveia mostly through oak woods. At 1, packed lunch at Monte Merlo and at 2 climb towards Colle Langan, partly on tarmac and mostly on earth ground among conifer woods. Arrival at the stage post at 5.30: horse accommodation (open-air paddock) and lodging at Il Rifugio Farm Guesthouse (1,120 metres high), dinner and overnight stay.

3rd day: breakfast at the guesthouse; at 9, departure of guided tour on horseback towards Colle Melosa (1,600 metres high), then along Via Alpina, at first on meadow ground (larch woods), then dirt road along Strada Provinciale 76 up to 2000 metres altitude. At 1, packed lunch at former Generale Fornara’s barracks with water for the horses; at 2, climb towards Colle Garezzo (1,795 metres high) and descent along the crest of the old Via Marenca. Arrival by 6 at the stage post at the new refuge with stables for the horses in S. Bernardo di Conio (opening Spring 2008); self-catered dinner at the refuge with supplies and use of the kitchen.

4th day: breakfast at the refuge, at 9, departure of guided tour on horseback along the ridge from Colle d’Oggia to Monte Faudo; at 1, packed lunch; at 2, descent to Cipressa and Pompeiana’s pine forest and arrival at the horse centre by 6; horse accommodation, departure, end of our services.

- 1 half-board in three-star hotel
- 1 half-board in farm guesthouse
- 1 overnight stay in refuge with use of the kitchen – supplies for dinner and breakfast at the refuge

- 1 qualified horse-guide for the whole length of the trek – food and water for the horses – specialized assistance along the route and in the stage posts
