The Monegasque Alpine Club: a hundred-year-old on the Slovenian Via Alpina

The Monegasque Alpine Club was founded in 1911. To celebrate its centenary, a series of events are being organised this year. The first one is a club trip to the other end of Via Alpina in Slovenia.

From 18 to 26 June, some 40 participants will discover the Red and Purple trails in the Julian Alps, the Triglav National Park and the Karavanke. They will combine hikes of various difficulties with tourist excursions, supported by the Via Alpina-Slovenia national secretariat.

Hiking on a foreign stretch of Via Alpina aims at becoming an annually recurring activity for the CAM. We’d like to encourage other clubs to do the same and congratulate the sections of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) of Thiene and Cosenza which will also be on our trails this summer!

The CAM will later participate to the arrival feast of the Via Alpina-FFME relay hike in St-Martin-Vésubie on Saturday 27 August. The Centenary Walk to Mout Agel on Sunday 11 September will also follow Via Alpina. And finally, on Saturday 12 November, Via Alpina will occupy an important place in the Festival of Mountain, with the projection of the films of the first Via Alpina Travel Fellows. More information will follow shortly!
