Mount Lega's Battery and Observation Post

MOUNT LEGA’S BATTERY AND OBSERVATION POST
Pigna (IM)

Mount Lega’s Battery, entrance

Historical and architectural information: Built between 1932 and 1935, Mount Lega’s 604th Battery “always ready” was the most important compound in the Gouta area, surrounded by a large corollary of resistence works and itself part of the huge system of military works in the Alpine Wall. On the top of Mount Lega we can still find the cave battery with four cannon-posts, two casemates for machine guns and the other shelter and logistical rooms and the observation post at the summit intact, the hilltop being under French administration. The access route is exceptionally panoramic and set in an area with a very high environmental value.

  Information for visits:
You can reach Mount Lega’s post from late Spring to Autumn.
